Biographical Statement

Thelma Arko is a Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA) wokring on a Bosch-funded Sustainable Cities project. She has extensive experience as an educator, a researcher, a business person and administrator from both local and international organisations.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science, working on the research topic, “Reducing the Energy Ecological Footprint of Greater Accra – The Charcoal Issue”. She has an MPhil in parasitology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management.

She was formerly an administrator and a teaching assistant at KNUST Africa Institute of Sanitation and Waste Management. She has over 10 years of experience as an educator at both primary and secondary level with experience in the Ghana Education Science and International General Certificate of Secondary education curricula.
